Gardens, combined with easy / moderate walks – with quality accommodation
The region has many interesting Gardens and other places to explore on the way to them or back. Some of these are Threave Garden, Broughton House, Castle Kennedy Garden, Logan Botanical Garden and many more. We offer to design an easy to moderate walking break or holiday package including good quality accommodation. By good quality accommodation, the best hotels or country houses of the region. We have collaborated with many of these establishments in the past. We include a welcome meeting to go over the pre-arranged walking itinerary including other things to see and do in the area. We know all the places of interest which can be visited either on the way or way back from a walking location.
National Trust for Scotland Properties visits and walks
Galloway has three significant National Trust for Scotland properties – Threave Estate, near Castle Douglas, Broughton House in Kirkcudbright and Rockliffe, between the two coastal villages off Rockliffe and Kippford in the Scottish Riviera! There are a variety of good walks in each of these three locations which would suit a 3 day or longer break.
We can arrange accommodation at each location or in the centre of them all in Castle Douglas with our own Summerhill B&B suggested. We thereafter design the walking and touring break incorporating visits to these properties.
Theme Towns Walks
Dumfries and Galloway region has three theme towns which are all interesting in their own way.
Castle Douglas market town is a 'food' themed town in recognition of the large number of independent food related businesses.
Kirkcudbright has been known as an artists town since the 1800’s. The fishing port has several art galleries, the county museum and other attractions which make it a popular tourist resort.
Wigtown was the old county town for Wigtownshire before local government reorganisation. There are over 20 book shops and related businesses in and around the town and you can easily spend a whole day browsing around.
