Hello and welcome to our website.

I’ve lived and worked in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland for 60 years and started Galloway Walking Holidays in 2004. I’d just retired as a policeman and thought my knowledge and passion for the region and love of walking was an ideal combination to create inspiring tours in the area. I’m pleased to say that over the past 12 years we’ve provided walking holidays for many satisfied customers from around the world. Have a look at our reviews.

We are fortunate that the Dumfries and Galloway region has all the ingredients for a relaxing and varied walking holiday. The natural environment is all there, with over 200 miles of coastline, several river valleys, the Galloway Forest Park and Galloway Hills.

The business operates from our base in Castle Douglas. My wife, Tina, runs our stylish B&B in Castle Douglas, Summerhill which we use for at least the first night’s accommodation on most of our walking holidays. It works well to host the welcome meeting to go over the walks route information after arrival. An example of how we are a wee bit different from the big operators is that if you arrive by mid-afternoon (usually the day before the tour start day) you can take a free ‘acclimatisation trip’ to nearby iconic Threave Castle (on a river island accessed by boat) and / or Threave Garden (National Trust for Scotland), one of the top Gardens in Scotland. You can then stop in at our local brewery for a beer or one of the many cafes in our ‘food town’ on return. A good way to acclimatise I think!

Welcome to Galloway Walking Holidays.
