6 Day Walking Breaks
- explore Galloway within a week.
Our 6 Day Walking Breaks are ideal for a mid-week look around Galloway.
Each day’s walk, whether circular or linear, is in a different location. Walks can be from half to a full day giving you the opportunity to also look around the area using our up to date information. You can use your own car for transport or we can assist with our minibus.
Below we outline three 6 day walking breaks with different grade options - Easy, Moderate and Strenuous. These relate to the walk distance and difficulty. You can walk either day first.
We have an extensive selection of other walks in the region which we can incorporate into a 6 day walking break, so If you have specific requirements for a 6 day walking break, just let us know and we will respond with an outline itinerary and a price quote.
Format
- After arrival, we will meet you at your first night’s accommodation base where we provide and go over your Walk Information Pack including route maps and daily itineraries with you.
Your first day’s walk starts after breakfast the following day when, if required, we provide transport.
After your third nights stay and the third day’s walk, you can either depart or stay another night if you wish.

- Walk tranport prices (drop off at walk start and pickup at end) are shown separately in case you wish to use your own car for circular walks. For linear walks, using our minibus, we are able to drop off at the start point and pickup at end or even part assist with public transport if you wish.

6A - The Three Stop Walking Break.
Start – Any day of the week.
Distance – from 2 to 6 miles with longer options.
Grade – Easy.
Comments – Stay at 2 different B&B's, one in Gatehouse of Fleet and also in Kippford. Again some excellent and diverse walks.
Price – £295 p.p. in B&B's (assuming two sharing). Transport - £60 plus £10 p.p.
Summary
- This walking break is divided into three locations with a 2 night stay at each location with walks nearby.
You begin at our 4 star standard B&B in Castle Douglas with swim spa to relax after your walk. After a
Threave Estate walk we have plenty of time to discuss and tailor the remainder of your walking holiday.
The next location is the
East Stewartry National Scenic Area where we use B&B’s but also suggest a hotel under new management with guaranteed excellent food. There are several coastal and woodland walks of different distances from this location which we would advise on.
The third location is
Kirkcudbright artists’s town where again we recommend different B&B, guest house and hotel accommodation which we book to suit your budget. As well as walks from the town, there are several other nearby coastal and countryside walks.
6B - Castle Douglas and Mid Galloway.

Summary
- This twin centre walking holiday starts with 3 nights accommodation at
Castle Douglas with the next three nights at recommended accommodation at
Newton Stewart or Wigtown in mid Galloway. The towns have character and ideal places to be based for walks in each area.
From Castle Douglas, your walks are in upland
Glenkens area north of Loch Ken, a day at the
Solway Coast and one day in
south Stewartry.
We also advise on walk options when travelling between the two areas, e.g. Murray’s monument from
The Queens Way or
Kirroughtree forestry visitor centre.
From the base in
Newton Stewart or
Wigtown, the walks are at
Glentrool in the Galloway Hills, a coastal walk in the
south Machars and one in the far west at
Portpatrick or the
Mull of Galloway.
As with all walks our service includes tailoring your walking break to suit your schedule and preferences.

Summary
- We arrange three days walking along the cross country Southern Upland Way and link trails in the Galloway Hills. We can tailor the distances including drop off and pickup points and can factor in a pub at the end on at least 2 days.
As a deliberate contrast, and to provide variety, we arrange three separate walks along the Solway Coast visiting small villages, communities and places of interest. Although there is not a joined up 3 day walking route along the coast, we join up as much as possible to provide an interesting 3 day coastal walk, again we can design to have a pub or two along the way, either for lunch or at the end of the walk where we would pick you up if required.
