You head to north Dumfriesshire to Thornhill area with
Drumlanrig Castle as the highlight with the excellent estate woodland and river walks.

Summary
-
Striding Arches are several hilltop sculptures by world famous Andy Goldsworthy and the scene of your first day’s walk near Moniaive which has an excellent choice of food places – which we can give advice.
A coastal walk on a new way-marked route not yet well known is a good starting point for a walk ending in
Gatehouse in Fleet. The
old railway line between the Water of Fleet and Loch Ken provides some great hills and lochs scenery. A similar but more rugged walk, not necessarily the day after this one, takes you along the
Southern Upland Way. We tailor the walk to suit your preference, which can be between the spectacular Loch Trool to Clatteringshaws loch.
Closer to Castle Douglas, the little known
Almorness peninsula on the Solway coast is a good place to end your walking week with a good pub nearby.
